Nigel Lockwood

Nigel Lockwood -- co-director and founder of Lockwood & Associates Limited.

Nigel is a Registered Public Valuer, a Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Valuers, a Fellow of the Property Institute of New Zealand and an Associate of the Real Estate Institute of New Zealand. During his time in Wellington Nigel has served on both the Wellington Branch of the New Zealand Institute of Valuers and the Real Estate Institute of New Zealand.

His practical valuation experience began with the Valuation Department, Wellington during the mid 1980's, where he was Senior Valuer for the office. During his time with the Department, Nigel undertook a range of residential, industrial and commercial work with a focus on central city tenancy and lease arrangements.

He joined Harcourt Valuations (a subsidiary of the then Harcourt Corporation) in 1988 as a Senior Valuer and since 1991 has operated in private practice on his own behalf. Nigel has, over this period, continued to undertake a mix of residential, industrial and commercial work, a situation which provides him with the benefit of being involved with most facets of the greater Wellington property market.

Nigel is retained by a wide range of private and public sector tenants in a valuation and strategy capacity, completing work in locations throughout New Zealand. This has included purchase and disposal assignments and rent review assistance as expert valuer and arbitrator. Nigel also undertakes tenant representation work including lease negotiation, accommodation strategy exercises and coaching support.

A further focus over recent years has involved investigatory work including peer reviews and audits of lease proposals and market values for various entities.

Residential valuation assignments include mortgage, sale, purchase and matrimonial assessments, expert witness, development and feasibility advice, and acquisition/compensation/easement exercises. Nigel has over 30 years experience and is well known in Wellington for his expertise in the valuation of superior residences and apartments.

Throughout his career he has also had extensive involvement with insurance valuations across the commercial, industrial and residential sectors.

Nigel is recognised as one of Wellington's most experienced practitioners in the valuation and property sector. A long time resident of Northland and Karori, outside of work he keeps an interest in a wide range of sports including test cricket, football, basketball, golf and horse racing.
