Hamish Bills

Hamish Bills -- co-director of Lockwood and Associates Limited.

Hamish is a Registered Public Valuer, an Associate of the New Zealand Institute of Valuers, Senior Member of the Property Institute of NZ and current Vice Chair of the Wellington Branch of the New Zealand Institute of Valuers.

He began his professional career with the Government Valuation Department, Wellington, in 1986. During his time at the Department, Hamish rose to a senior level undertaking a wide range of valuation work including residential, industrial, commercial and rural assignments, gaining registration in 1990.

Hamish entered private practice in 1991 after returning from an overseas working holiday and has been with Lockwood & Associates Limited since its formation in 1993, becoming a Director in 2004.

Over his years in private practice Hamish has gained extensive knowledge and experience in valuing a wide range of residential property throughout Wellington City, the Hutt Valley, Porirua City and the Kapiti Coast. As one of the few registered valuers within Wellington City to have a rural qualification, Hamish also provides expert advice in the rural sector particularly rural residential properties and larger rural holdings throughout the lower North Island.

Residential and rural valuation assignments undertaken by Hamish include mortgage, acquisition, disposal, division of assets, compensation, subdivision, easements, boundary adjustments, insurance, rental and peer review.

More recently Hamish has become involved in a number of Crown compulsory acquisition projects under The Public Works Act having gained considerable experience in this sector throughout the greater Wellington region. Other assignments undertaken include suburban commercial/industrial property appraisal, rent review, market value and insurance exercises. He also has experience in the property dispute arena as an expert witness.

Hamish resides in Karori having lived and worked in Wellington his entire career; as such he is respected as a senior practitioner within Wellington's property fraternity. Married to Sarah with one son Archie, interests outside the work arena include swimming, travel, wine and the arts.
